Believe it or not, there is such thing as FAKE CREE LEDs! What does this mean? This means there are LEDs that looks like cree bulbs, but in reality, are only as bright as an epistar bulb. Lets get to the basics first:

1. The difference between a CREE bulb and an Epitstar bulb from the naked eye is that a CREE bulb is square shaped, while an Epistar bulb is a circle shape. Below is an attached image of both a real CREE bulb and an Epistar bulb.

2. Now that you know the difference, lets get into the difference of REAL CREE LEDs and FAKE CREE LEDs. To an untrained eye, they look exactly the same; both are a square shape. There is no define difference, but if you look carefully and know what you're looking for, it is easy to spot. Below are pictures of a fake and real cree led. If you look carefully, the real cree bulb appears to show more white than the fake one. Also, the square looks to be bigger in a fake cree bulb.

This is a REAL CREE light:

Below is a FAKE CREE light:

Take a second and compare the two. Notice how the REAL CREE light has some space around it that is white. The FAKE CREE light has no space around it; the square is taking up the entire whole while the REAL CREE light is not taking the entire space.
